Chicken Coop TLC: The Florida Project Two crazy yet motivated individuals attempt to update a "chicken coop" of a house into (hopefully) a livable family home in Jacksonville FL!

Adult life is work, there's unfortunately no getting around that. We work for a living, making money and aspiring for a better life for ourselves and our loved ones. How we work, and how we FEEL about our work, is one of the most intriguing parts of this life we live. In this day and age, you are the envy of most people if you are fortunate enough to truly love your job. Sadly, most people do NOT

love what they do, and find themselves dreaming of following their passions while stuck in a job that pays the bills and puts food on the table for their family, but leaves them feeling wholly unfulfilled. To love what you do, and truly love where you do it, is probably the greatest joy anyone can find in life! If you HAVE ever wished to change the circumstances of your life, and HAVE felt unable to do anything about it, then you know exactly where both Fjola and Rich's heads were in July of 2014! For the previous 3 years, Rich and Fjola were living month-to-month in a WAY-overpriced apartment in Western NY; Rich had lost his job at a big bank's mortgage service center a year prior, and job prospects were near impossible to find. Both Fjola and Rich were considering their dreary options for the future. They had both always dreamed and talked about trying to flip houses: buying properties, renovating them back to their former glory, and then selling/renting them for a profit. Admittedly, neither of them really knew HOW to do this, but the draw of being their own bosses, making their own hours and standing by their own decisions was both enticing and scary! Eventually, the desire began to outweigh the fear, and the hunt for their first prospective property had begun! They looked and looked, but nothing in the NY area really seemed to fit - and to be SUPER cliche, "winter was coming"... like LITERALLY coming in the next month or two, and they both agreed that another season of snow and bitter-cold ice was completely out of the question...

That's when they found their chicken coop - or more precisely, the 2 bedroom/1 bath home on a double lot in Jacksonville FL they bought sight-unseen... and THAT is where we begin this particular adventure!

It was a BIT cold here, so it was slower going than we expected - still need some work on the window trim, baseboards and the accent wall (including getting a missing box from IKEA for the entertainment stand) but overall we are loving the cozy atmosphere!

Ok... sorry for not posting lately! COVID hit Jacksonville particularly hard (we are both safe and healthy!)

We have had a hell of a time getting trades to come out and give estimates/do work this year, BUT, things seem to be calming down now and we are DEFINITELY moving forward here at a FAST pace now - so updates to come VERY soon!
