Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.

Here in Jacksonville, NC, a piece of that history lives right in our community.

The 9/11 Memorial Beam at Lejeune Memorial Gardens is an authentic steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center. Presented by New York City police officers and firefighters to the first U.S. troops deployed after 9/11, it was the first beam to leave New York City and the only one delivered to a Marine base on the back of a New York City fire engine.

The memorial rests between the Beirut Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, serving as a permanent place of remembrance, reflection, and connection to a day when, for so many, the world stopped.

Today, we remember the lives lost, those who ran toward danger to help others, and all those whose lives were forever changed by the events of that day.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

tbh, I really miss Steak N Shake!! 😭 I love their Frisco melts and every time we went, we had the best waitress, my kids loved her.

We did try Fazoli's while it was here but have yet to try Chicken Salad Chick.
