It’s getting to be firepit weather again. 🔥

There’s something about a cool evening out here that makes everyone slow down a little.

Build a fire, open the s’mores kit, pull up a chair and stay awhile. No reservations to make, nowhere you need to be, and no reason to check the time.

We keep the firewood, fire starters and s’mores ready for our guests. You just have to decide who makes the better marshmallow — perfectly golden or completely on fire.

Some of our favorite evenings at Whispering Pines are the simple ones.

A new favorite spot at Whispering Pines ✨

We’ve been working on something special by the pond, and it’s finally finished.

Our new handcrafted timber pergola gives guests a place to gather for dinner, morning coffee, or simply sit under the lights and enjoy the view.

By day, it overlooks the pond and woods. As evening settles in, the warm lights come on and it becomes a completely different kind of place.

We built it because some of the best moments at Whispering Pines happen when there’s nowhere else you need to be — dinner lasts a little longer, conversations keep going, and everyone stays outside to watch the stars come out.

A special thank you to Handmade Enterprises for the beautiful craftsmanship that brought our vision to life. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Fall brings some beautiful mornings and evenings to Whispering Pines — colorful sunrises over the pond, sunsets through the pines, and then, once it gets completely dark, a sky full of stars.

We recently added a stargazing setup for our guests with a Celestron telescope, astronomy binoculars and a few simple guides to help you figure out what you’re looking at.

You definitely don’t need to know anything about astronomy. Half the fun is taking everything outside, pointing it at the sky and seeing what you can find.

And with the cooler evenings, the firepit and hot tub aren’t bad places to finish the night either.

We still have some October and November weekends open if a few quiet fall days in East Texas sound good right about now.

Fall might be our favorite time of year at Whispering Pines. 🌲

The days are a little cooler, the evenings come a little earlier, and it’s finally the kind of weather where you can spend the whole day outside and not be in any hurry to come in.

Walk the trails. Fish the pond. Make dinner outside. Then settle in around the firepit, break out the telescope when it gets dark, or end the night in the hot tub under the stars.

No big itinerary needed. That’s kind of the point.

“We absolutely loved our stay at Whispering Pines Retreat! Everything was so thoughtfully stocked, and it really felt like we could just settle in and enjoy ourselves. Having so much space all to ourselves felt like such a luxury, and the peaceful, quiet setting was exactly what we needed.

Our boys had the best time. It was their very first time fishing, and they actually caught fish, which was so exciting to watch. We spent evenings around the campfire making s’mores, and the loft quickly became their favorite place in the cabin.

There was so much to do that we never got bored, but it also felt incredibly relaxing. It was one of those trips that just felt a little magical. We made so many great family memories, and before we even left we were already talking about when we could come back.”

We opened Whispering Pines in July 2025 with equal parts excitement and uncertainty.

By year’s end:
• Nearly every weekend was booked
• December was completely full
• 93 nights hosted in our first partial year

What surprised us most wasn’t just the bookings—it was how many guests told us the cabin became their place to reconnect, reset, and breathe.
