What is escrow? 🤔

I like to explain escrow as a set of “buckets” that make up your monthly mortgage payment—also known as PITI:
• Principal
• Interest
• Taxes
• Insurance

Each year, your property taxes and homeowners insurance are re-evaluated. And just like everything else, they can increase—meaning your monthly payment might go up too.

Here’s the good news: you have options! 👇🏾
If there’s a shortage in your escrow account, you can:
• Pay the shortage upfront to keep your monthly payment more stable, OR
• Let it be spread out, which will increase your monthly payment

On the flip side, if there’s an overage (extra money in your escrow account), you’ll receive a refund 💰

Keep in mind: escrow evaluations happen annually.
