🚨 RENTAL SCAM ALERT: Protecting Grand Forks Renters 🚨

Looking for an apartment or house in Grand Forks? Don't let fraudsters steal your deposit.

Scammers are copying real housing listings, reposting them with artificially low prices, and tricking renters into sending money before ever seeing the property.

⚠️ Watch out for these RED FLAGS:
• Landlord claims to be out of town/unreachable in person
• Demands payment via wire transfer (Zelle, Venmo, crypto, etc) before signing a lease
• Tells you to "look through the windows" and promises to mail keys after you pay
• High-pressure tactics forcing you to pay "right now or lose the deal"

✅ Protect Yourself:
1️⃣ Inspect first: Never send funds without touring the interior with a verified owner or agent.
2️⃣ Verify owners: Cross-check names with local Grand Forks property records or official management sites.
3️⃣ Use secure payment: Legitimate landlords won't insist on untraceable money transfers.

As we celebrate Independence Day, the Jamestown Police Department would like to remind everyone of the legal dates and times for fireworks within the city.

📅 Fireworks may only be sold and used July 1 through July 5.

Permitted detonation hours:
🧨 July 1–3: Noon – 11:00 PM
🧨 July 4: Noon – 1:00 AM (July 5)
🧨 July 5: Noon – 11:00 PM

⚠️ Fireworks discharged outside of these hours may result in a potential Class B Misdemeanor charge
