Welp.

Last night was not the outcome we had worked so hard for. The Jefferson City council voted to not approve the rezoning of the property at 107 Adams St. At this point, we’re not sure what’s next. We will keep you updated as we learn more.

It's the meal that some people wait for all year. It's the food that makes some people start drooling as soon as they walk in the door... and others as soon as they see the signs. It's the food...the smells...the excitement...that you just don't want to miss.

On Friday, September 25 from 4:00-7:00pm Central Church will be hosting its Annual Oktoberfest German Dinner. Grilled sausage, our amazing German potato salad, fried apples, sauerkraut, green beans, and pie -- lots of pie -- for $17. If you prefer a kid's meal, we'll have hot dogs, chips, green beans, and dessert for $7. Kids 5 & under eat free.

There will once again be both dine-in and drive-thru options available this year (& carryouts are also available for dine-in guests to take an extra meal to go). Please follow the signs on the day of the event to get where you need to go for the correct option.

All of the profits from this year's dinner will again be donated to Jefferson City Room at the Inn. Room at the Inn is an emergency, low-barrier overnight homeless shelter that operates during the winter months. They provide a hot meal and a warm place to sleep on cold nights for individuals with nowhere else to go.

Central Church is located at 118 W. Ashley St. in Jefferson City, 2 blocks south of US50 between Broadway and Jefferson St. (Just look for our steeple.)

Our normal Sunday Schedule will resume on Sept. 13. For the summer, we are only having a 10:15am combined service (no 9:00am service)

Here we go!!

This is the meeting where the City Council votes on whether 107 Adams St. will be zoned to allow us to open a resource center and shelter for the unhoused in our community.

We’ve studied, we’ve met, we’ve had tons of conversations… We’re as ready as we can be! Our slate of speakers is already organized, so that is not our ask. In fact, we need to keep it succinct and to plan. However, your show of support in person will send quite a message! Please join us at the meeting, wearing a white shirt or your JCRATI blue shirt. Let the visual show how many in our community are behind this!

HCJC President Scott Johnston joins me to explain why they still believe the uptown location is right, what “low barrier” actually means, and why he thinks the project would improve Jefferson City’s homelessness problem instead of making it worse.
