Finishing a 5 day water only fast in 10 hours. These are my reflections.
Today has been the hardest day in terms of strength to move around, not hunger. I’m still not hungry for food. I could eat but I’m not truly hungry.
I’m also celebrating 133 days of abstinence.
Matthew 26:41 reads “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
The spirit is supposed to control the mind
…which is supposed to control the body.
Oftentimes we do it backwards.
When the body is in control, it manifests as physical disease.
When the mind is in control, it manifests as mental health issues.
Fasting allows you to reestablish the divine order.
There are many things you can fast from: food, segs, social media, TV, gossip, artificial sugar, salt, cursing, speaking, negative music, dairy, meat, clubs, fried foods, fast food, alcohol, soda, juice, smoking, saying yes, saying no, etc.
We are in the world but not of it.
We are here to enjoy this experience, but sometimes we have to put things in check to remind ourselves that they have to power over us.
Every craving is not true hunger.
“My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to completely finish His work.“ John 4:34 🙏🏾
