ABANDONED GOLDEN RETRIEVER UPDATE!!
We're thrilled to report that this particular incident was all a very large misunderstanding! We were contacted this morning by the man on the side of the road Friday evening. He called Heidi and posted on our thread with a fully detailed story of the events that took place!
Sadly, dogs are often dumped for no reason. However, this Golden was not a victim to this horrible fate. Sincerest thank you's to Heidi and her big heart for contacting us and trying to help, to all of our followers for quickly spreading this story far and wide, and volunteers who offered their time.
At this time we do not know for certain if the Golden (who we now know is male) has made his way home. We're hoping this gets to his owner and she can confirm her family member is home safe!

This incident may be completely misconstrued (I am deeply hoping that anyway). My wife and 2 other couples were on our way downtown Friday night. We were on Lincoln drive around 6. As we approached a light (I don't remember the intersection) we saw a dog walking in on-coming traffic. We were stopping for the light and as we got closer, I could see it was a golden. We were in the left lane. Making sure it was relatively safe for me, I got out of the car and called to him (I think it was a male). He quickly ran over to me and half laid down at my feet by the door. I tried to hold on to him, but he didn't have a collar on. I tried to see if he would jump into our car so he would be safe then we could figure out where he belonged, but he got spooked and ran off into a wooded area between some houses. He was young, beautiful and strong. At that point, traffic started coming so I got back in the car. There was a women waking with a rope/leash and we yelled out to her if she was looking for a dog. She said yes. We pointed to the direction he ran off and we continued on our way. If someone didn't see us stop because he was walking in the street and only saw from the point when he was at my feet with me next to the car, I can see how might look like we threw him out, but I can assure you, that was not the case. I absolutely love dogs and especially Goldens.
Team Louie- We often hear a lot of sad stories involving animal cruelty, abandonment, and heartlessness. It pains us to share this story but we desperately need your help in locating an abandoned dog in West Mount Airy/Germantown Philadelphia. Friday night 7.21.17 a woman driving home witnessed a car pull over and a man throw a Golden Retriever out of his car. By the time she was able to stop and turn around the dog ran into the woods and the car was gone. In the heat of the moment the car was not able to be identified. Team Louie and the woman who witnessed the incident are committed to doing everything we can to help find this poor dog and ensure him/her a happy and safe future. The image in the flier is not the dog we are working on but a dog similar in looks to help for ID purposes. We are asking for volunteers to help hang fliers and share on social media to generate sighting calls. We know how horrifying this is but we're asking everyone to keep this post positive and supportive in our efforts to to find this dog. If seen please do not chase or pursue but call 267-625-0785 ASAP. We ask that sightings not be posted publicly but called in or messaged privately ASAP. If you're interested in volunteering your time please inbox our page.
We will update as soon as we have any information.
