So last Sunday night around 8:30 pm, I’m on my computer winding down the day while my wife is out walking the dogs! I hear my wife open the front door and call my name “Jeff can you come here for a second”! I said to my self Oh S**t, what happened? I go to the dinning room door and ask her, what’s wrong? She says can you contact our neighbor, there a kitten trapped under the hood of her car, meowing really loud and I don’t want her to start the Jeep Cherokee SUV, we need to get the cat out from under the hood!
So I call the neighbor, neighbor says yeah, Ill be right there. So I go back to my computer and check out cameras to see what they are doing. Next thing I notice is my tenant and my wife come back to our house with a kitten in a white blanket. My tenant is a cat lover, and so are we, although I have two elderly dogs and my heart started to sink as I soon realized the magnitude of what just rapidly happen and what situation I’m now dealing with.
So I come down to the porch and see this beautiful blue eyed, tigger stripped cat now in a box with blankets. The kitten appeared to be a month or so old and we were trying to figure out what to do with the kitten. Long behold, we decide grab my former cat Coco’s kennel and place him or her in the cage with towels as it was wet and cold! We were on the porch for almost an hour trying to name it, examining the kitten with a roller coaster of emotions. I mentioned a couple of names ranging from, Jeep to Cherokee to Engine and Diesel and no name really stuck or decision was made except that we’d bring it to the vet the next morning to get it check for fleas and health concerns. Well it’s been almost a week and things have gone pretty well with multiple baths and feeding, while the cat mainly remained in the cage. The name Engine aka N-GN seemed unique and catchy. So here to how the world works in mysterious way as we decided to keep the 7 week old kitten, now named Engine!
She is doing fine, eating well, sleeping well and is very well behaved. I saw a tragedy turn into a blessing as Engine couldn’t have found a better home to now call little Engine-31 from 04/31/23 to our welcoming home as our family member and new kitten!
