These are some of the hardest working folks in Wayne County. There is a reason they work as hard as they do: they view what they do as a calling and a mission rather than just a job. The general public will never know the long hours, sweat, and tears that they pour into this community to make it a better place to live and work for so many families. They are problem-solvers, but more importantly, they are compassionate. There are days that our maintenance mechanics go to work in an apartment of an elderly person, and for that day, they may very well be the only interaction that person has with anyone for that day. They always take the time to complete their tasks, but they also take the time to let them know that they genuinely care and are there for them. Folks will never know the conversations and encouragement that flows out of our front window of the office with our ladies on the administrative side pouring into adults and children with encouragement and speaking positivity into their lives. The bottom line: they do it that way because they genuinely care about the folks that live in our community. The mission statement of our organization states that we were "created to provide creative solutions in managing and developing affordable housing for the families of Wayne County;" but believe me when I say the mission of these folks in this picture stretches far beyond any mission statement hung on a wall...

For the 23rd year in a row, we solicited support from local businesses and organizations for our annual Back to School Blast. With their support, we were able to send 94 kids back into the classroom this year with new backpacks stocked with needed supplies for their grade level. It's great to live in a community that cares about its' youth and steps up to the plate to help when needed!! Thanks to the sponsors shown below and to our team here at WHP for coordinating the distribution of school supplies again this year.

We are extremely proud of our board chairman, Mr. Clifford Davis, Jr. for participating in the recent Honor Flight to our nation's capitol. We couldn't do what we do in our community without the leadership of Mr. Clifford and our entire Board of Directors.

🇺🇸 Wayne well-represented on Honor Flight to D.C.

Several Wayne County residents were among 88 Honor Flight veterans and es**rts who were flown from southeastern Georgia to visit the country’s war memorials in Washington, D.C. June 13.

Cliff Davis, who served as a military police officer in Germany at the end of the Vietnam War era, was flown to Baltimore, Maryland, and driven to the nation’s capital by bus in honor of his service.

Jesup Mayor Ralph Hickox served as his guardian (es**rt).

Other local guardians included Danny Harris (himself a veteran) of At Home Senior Living, Jamie Hickox of Jamie Hickox Real Estate, Heather Tyre of eXp Realty, and RJ Fernandez of the Jesup Police Department.

“It was very fulfilling,” Davis said of the trip. “… People [in Washington] treated us with honor and respect.”

After his experience as an MP in the war, Davis had a lengthy career as a state patrol officer and is known locally as the longtime chair of the Jesup Housing Authority.

Wayne Housing Partners is pleased to announce the selection of our founding Chairman, Mr. Clifford Davis, Jr., as a Grand Marshal for the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Wayne County. Mr. Davis has played a pivotal role in our organization's evolution, and we join the community in honoring his contributions to both our local community and the state of Georgia. He was recognized for his achievements at the WHP Board Meeting earlier today. We extend our gratitude to Mr. Davis for his tireless efforts to improve our community and state, and we appreciate his dedication more than words can express.

One of our most favorite days of the year: our annual Christmas celebration with our families. With some help from the wonderful folks at House of Worship, we were able to fulfill Santa's list with gifts for 110 kids this afternoon. And with the warmer temps, ole Santa was able to make the trek down from the North Pole on his Harley instead of hooking the reindeer up to the sleigh! 🧑‍🎄🌲🎄

It was truly a team effort creating our float for the Jesup Christmas Parade this past Friday night. Each member of our fabulous team had original ideas for creativity and each one physically worked to get the float ready to roll. It's that same teamwork that makes WHP such a great community partner here in Wayne County!

Also, a special thanks to Kara and gang at the DDA for putting on a great parade!! Great planning and a huge crowd showed up to enjoy!

There is nothing more important to us and our local community than our youth. Each year, we are fortunate to be able to assist our youngsters with going back to school. There's nothing we love more than to see the smiles and the excitement they have for starting off a new school year. Since 2003, we have been blessed by sponsors here locally to provide backpacks filled with all of the school supplies needed at their respective schools. This year, we were able to fill over 100 backpacks and distribute them to our kids before the first day of school. Without the following sponsors, this would not have been possible. We thank them for their support of our mission in Wayne County, but more importantly, for sowing into the lives of over 100 kids that were prepared to start the new school year off on the right foot!
