I wasn’t going to post this but was thinking about the cost of being an entrepreneur and being your own boss. This is Roberto our painter. He was referred to us by a family friend. He painted our old house and we called him to paint our new house. I loved his worked and decided to give him a call.
He showed up ready to work. He was on time. He worked for 4 hours, took an hour lunch break and worked 4 more hours. He did this for 5 days straight. He didn’t cut corners. He paid attention to detail. I didn’t have to watch him to make sure he was doing a good job. He worked while I worked. I was so impressed with how he made sure he did it right and wasn’t trying to cut corners. Some areas we couldn’t see, but he could and he made sure it was done right. He is an entrepreneur. He represented his business and his brand well. He made sure the customer was satisfied.
I learned some lessons while I watched him. He was patient. He was thorough. He was on time everyday. He made sure what he did was done right. He did what was right even when the customer wasn’t looking. He took a break to rest. Another painter was suppose to help him paint but he couldn’t come. He didn’t make an excuse. He came and painted because he gave me his word.
The last day, I could see he was very tired. I said, “you look really tired”. He said yeah, “I’m tired but I’m not finished”. He doesn’t know I took this picture. He doesn’t even know that I’m making this post. His work ethic was stellar and needed to be shared.
Entrepreneurs, work is not always easy but it’s necessary to build your brand. We are living in a world that everyone wants to be their own boss. Everyone wants to have a business. Everyone wants the glory. This my friend made me realize that being an entrepreneur is work. No matter what kind of business you have, represent your brand well. Do what is right when you don’t know the customer is looking.
