In the United States, Flag Day is an annual celebration commemorating the adoption of America’s first national flag in 1777…nearly 250 years ago.
The flag has undergone several updates over the years, as 37 new stars have been added to represent the 37 States that have been admitted to the 13 original colonies that comprised the Union when the flag was first adopted.
Over the years, numerous nicknames have been coined for the American flag, including “the Stars and Stripes,” “Old Glory,” “the Red, White, and Blue,” and “the Star Spangled Banner.”
Join me today in saluting the Flag of the United States of America!
