Turns out the move everyone’s making now?
My family made it over 30 years ago.
The truth is I don’t remember anywhere else. Over 30 years here. I’ve lived in Watauga, gone to college and worked across all three Tri-Cities and somewhere along the way I came to know this whole corner of the state — Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol — the way you only can when it’s the only home you’ve ever known.
My grandparents were here. My parents chose to raise me close to them where our roots that run deep. Now my husband and I are doing the very same thing for our kids.
That’s what I think about when a family tells me they’re moving here. It’s the same reason my parents came, the same reason I never left, and the same pull bringing so many people to this corner of Tennessee today.
