Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend. Don’t forget to turn those clocks back an hour.🕰⏰⏱

It is also a great time to change batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors that are battery operated or have battery back up. 🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋

I just put ten new copper tops in five detectors. I’m good until spring.🌷🌸🌱

Real winter temperatures are coming this week. 💨💨💨💨💨

Make sure your home is protected.🏠🏠🏠

At New Door A Real Estate Brokerage, we are constantly watching the weather and protecting our client’s investments from winter damage.

Here are just a few simple things you can do to prevent pipe freezing:

1. Keep the house warm. For vacant properties a temperature of at least 55 degrees is recommended.
2. Keep cabinet and utility closet doors open. If your laundry room in enclosed, keep laundry room door open.
3. Keep indoor faucets dripping. Especially if pipes are on an exterior wall.
4. Make sure outdoor faucets are covered.
5. Keep the garage door closed.
6. Seal any cracks or openings on exterior walls.
7. Close and seal crawl spaces.

If you own a house that is currently vacant, you may want to consider turning the water off at the meter. You still need to drain the lines and leave the faucets open.

Be safe and avoid those costly repairs.
