A few years back, I was out in my garden and I was elated to discover that my marigolds from the year before had self-seeded into new plants.

I was THRILLED.

I started putting those marigolds everywhere throughout our garden.

I waited and waited and waited for those marigolds to bloom.

They kept getting taller and taller and taller, but no flowers bloomed.

Guys, I had transplanted ragweed throughout the ENTIRE garden.

This makes me laugh now and made me cry then.

I was super new to doing anything in our garden on my own and I made a huge mistake that I dealt with the consequences of for years.

But listen, any new skill or knowledge takes TIME.

The difference between being a good gardener and a great gardener? The amount of stuff I kill (plenty) and the amount of mistakes I make (seriously, so many) and the willingness to keep going. To account for mistakes in planning.

This year, I have at least two beds that I'm torching and starting over on. 800+sqft

Like anything worth doing, taking an active role looks a lot like showing up and being willing to keep moving forward.
