Interesting numbers on the housing market in Wallowa County 🏠

Well, this might ruin a perfectly good local rumor. 😂
You know the one:

"California is buying up Wallowa County!"

We decided to look at the actual numbers from Ruby Peak Realty's buyers, and… California may deserve an apology. 😆

Of 486 buyers:
🏔️ 236 - 48.51% were Wallowa County locals or people returning home
🌲 81% were Oregonians
☀️ California? 15 buyers. Just 3%.

Yep. Three percent.

Meanwhile, nearly 1 out of every 2 buyers was either already from Wallowa County or coming back home.
So maybe the better story isn't that outsiders are taking over.
It's that locals are staying, former locals are coming home, and the rest of Oregon apparently figured out what we've known all along. ❤️
The next time somebody says, "It's all Californians buying everything!" you can smile and say:
"Well… the numbers would like a word." 😂
