And that’s a wrap.

I had the privilege of taking this project from concept to completion. When I first walked the land with my team, we knew we had something special. Not only because of the stunning view, but because there was just something magical and inviting about the property.

The last house on the hill, overlooking 100 Year Wash and thousands of acres of preserved land. The opportunity was to create something that would be in harmony with the nature around it, and that became the North Star and guiding principle for the entire project.

From organic materials—white oak, bronze, iron, earthen plaster—all the way to natural fibers and linens in the interiors. Every detail was curated to feel luxurious, organic, tasteful, and understated.

I couldn’t be happier with the result.

This was not an easy journey…

9 months to get a grading permit.
6 months to get a building permit.
Our legendary civil engineer, Bob Maneiro, passed away from COVID midway through the permitting process. RIP, Bob.
22 weeks to get our custom iron door delivered.
The real estate market crashed right as we finally received our building permit.
And so many more micro-challenges along the way…

And then… standing on the foundation with my 3-year-old son saying, “Look what Papa and Guah (Grandpa) are building!”

One year later, taking a swim in the pool as a family, looking out over that same stunning view and saying, “We did it.”

Surreal, to be honest. It’s still sinking in.

Now the home welcomes its first owners—a lovely couple who are making the desert their new home. I couldn’t be happier to see this labor of love go to such lovely folks.

This was truly a team effort, and I have to give a MASSIVE thank you and shoutout to everyone who helped make it happen.

I’ve been hearing the same question almost daily:

“Is the Joshua Tree short-term rental market dead?”

My answer is no—but it has changed.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with KeyCrew Journal to talk about what I’m seeing on the ground after nearly eight years selling, investing, and developing throughout the High Desert.

One of the biggest shifts is that this market has become much more discerning. The days of buying just any house and expecting it to perform as a vacation rental are largely behind us.

The properties that continue to succeed are the ones that offer something people can’t find anywhere else: exceptional design, privacy, dramatic landscapes, and an authentic connection to the desert.

In many ways, I think that’s a healthy evolution. The market is rewarding thoughtful projects and creating opportunities for investors who understand what truly drives demand here.
