I’m John Franks, a 5th-generation Hawaii resident raised right here on Maui. My family came from Japan to work the sugar cane fields in Kihei and generations later, this island is still my home.

2025 brought tight timelines, thoughtful negotiations and a lot of behind-the-scenes problem solving.

But what it really brought were moments that mattered — keys of dream homes handed over to our clients, their kids got to choose their bedrooms and local families finding homes that fit their lives better.

That is the part of this work I never take for granted. Grateful for the trust this year, and excited for what’s ahead.

If you purchased a home on Maui this year that is your primary residence, be sure your property tax status reflects that by December 31.

If your home is still classified incorrectly, you could be substantially overpaying property taxes next year. Verify your status and file the Homeowner’s Exemption directly with Maui County: www.mauicounty.gov
