Happy Good Friday! 🕊
I wanted to share the following message from our local GKAR association. So that my clients understand what we agents are up against here in Kalamazoo - Michigan.
It honestly saddens me that we continue to be limited to do our jobs and serve our clients. This has been hard for me to tell new buyers, I still can not schedule “in person” showings.
Or host an open house for my new listing.
However there is “virtual” ways, if you’re comfortable with that method. Some listings have video & virtual tours.
I can definitely walk sellers through listing their home right now via online, and help get your home on the market now.
“GKAR Message to All REALTOR® Members:
Friday, April 10th, 2020, from GKAR Board of Directors
OUR GOAL is to serve and support your business while in compliance with our State Executive Order.
As you know, Governor Whitmer has made it clear that Real Estate Brokerage services are not an essential service. Violating the order will now result in $1,000 fine. It would also be a criminal misdemeanor, a possible $1,000 civil infraction, and 90 days in jail.
Violating the Executive Order is a violation of licensure law which exposes the Member and Broker to fines and suspensions or loss of license. The statute of limitations in this regard is 18 months. Is violating the law worth it?
We have heard Members discussing possible workarounds to our Executive Order. There are no workarounds to the Executive Order and any possible workarounds are not condoned by GKAR as an Association or by your GKAR Leadership!
REALTORS® MAY NOT:
-No showings of any properties. Even if a Buyer has sold their home and needs to buy, this is not critical.
-No virtual showings of vacant or new construction including taking photos or videos to be shared with a Buyer later.
-No installation of signs or lockboxes on potential new listings.
-No removal of signs or lockboxes from closings.
-You may not attend a final walk thru.
-You may not attend closing.
-You may not travel to do any real estate business.
If you have agents requesting showings, or you know that they're performing any of the above, they are in direct violation of the current Executive Order and are subject to penalty. Michigan REALTORS® has a section on their website to File a Complaint. “
Once this “Stay At Home” order is lifted, I promise my clients - buyer & sellers I will hustle hard to get your home listed. And my buyers in the listings that they’ve been wanting to see.
We real estate agents are all in this together. We will get through this, and the spring market will be blooming again...just a little delay this year.
If there’s anything I can help with, or answer...please reach out to me anytime.
Stay safe & be healthy!
