It’s Hawai’i Songwriting Festival week! Yet another dynamic event on Hawai’i Island. Kickoff is tomorrow June 8, and the grand finale is the concert Saturday June 10 at 7pm. This group (led by my hanai fam the fabulous Brotman’s,) works hard to promote the music industry in the state, fostering the next generation of musicians, songwriters, producers etc.! Proving access to resources and connections for songwriters and musicians to improve their craft and develop a sustainable career doing what they love. Hawai’i has a long musical history, you cannot untangle Hawaiian culture from mele (song/chant.) Come join in the fun this week!

Last night’s hoku moonbow... 2023 is a go!
Anyone have any visions for 2023, reflections from 2022? I had my first post-surgery trail run in December and hoping for lots of bumpy miles this year. Helping my clients with their goals and visions for their families is why I’m in the business. Let’s get this year going! 🙏🏽⚡️👀

Just like that, Mauna Loa has gone back to sleep. This was our view for a few weeks and while I’m grateful it was a quick less destructive flow and our air is crisp again, I’ll miss the glow! Grateful for this land, connecting us and humbling us 🖤

7th annual wreath party in the books. I used to be self conscious about entertaining with our remodel being half done…but our house is always packed to the brim with people I love, chuckling babies, all the aunties, tutus, family and friends who’ve seen it all and what else could possibly matter?? We skipped mauka foraging to give Pele some space and our urban foraged wreaths turned out beautiful! Grateful. 🤍 🤣

Mauna Loa registered 65 earthquakes in the last 24 hours, it hasn’t erupted since 1984, but remains active. In 2018 we hiked to Moku’āweoweo, had a moment of silence, marveled at the vast crater, scratched our names in the trail book & my sister in law and I had an oxygen deprived giggle fit at the expense of the Kopra brothers. 🖤

Ocean appreciation post💙People claim “island fever” but the Hawaiian word for trail is the same on both land and sea…. it doesn’t take much time in the water to feel incredibly small and see the expanse that we have such abundant access to. Grateful.
