Two years ago Lane told me that he wanted to buy 10 houses and it seemed so outlandish to me.

I said things like “Well we have to be rich to do that” and “That’ll take 10 years”.

But then I surrounded myself with other investors and changed my mindset completely. I saw other people doing it and without super high paying jobs or money handed to them from their parents. Realizing that everything is figureoutable is the key ( lesson)

Yes, the before and after renovation posts are much more fun but we share this because we want others to know there are ways to take control of your financial life.

We are both nurses by trade. We didn’t make big corporate salaries that made this happen.

Our last house hack is completely leased and that means we have FIVE long-term rentals 🙌🏽

At this time last year we only had 1 LTR and 1 house hack but we knew where we wanted to be

We now have:
5 rentals
1 live-in flip (brrrr)
1 flip that will be completed in 8 weeks

Can’t wait to see where we are at a year from now 🏠🏠🏠

Aside from having a super inspirational story, Maria and Lane Koch are just great people.

Two nurses that realized the power of real estate and designed their lives to take advantage of powerful wealth building strategies.

They recorded from the RV that they were living in and it made me want to get my own RV and take off with my family.

House hacking = buying a property and renting out part of it 🏠

We did our first house hack in 2015 and than repeated in 2016. This was right out of college and we had very little money to work with. It can be done 👏🏼

Some of the most common excuses we hear are:
🚫 We don't want to have people in the property we own
🚫 We don't want to be landlords
🚫 What if something goes wrong?

But what we found out is:
✅ Your housing expense can literally be $0 (depending on your type of rental you could be cashflow positive)
✅ You are gaining equity on an investment that someone else is paying for
✅ It is easier than you think to be a landlord and there is SO much free educational content online 😉
✅ The benefits are unreal: principal pay down, extremely low housing costs, tax advantages, future leverage etc.

We plan to do our final house hack this summer, hoping to add a duplex or fourplex to our portfolio for our last conventional loan.
