My 30 day social media fast was so impactful and refreshing. I almost made this absence permanent! But I realized that there is still so much to share. Check this out 👇🏼
1. Presence. - As soon as I deleted all the apps from my phone I found myself constantly going to my phone no matter where I was or who I was with. Social media was like a drug, giving me a way to escape from the stressors of life.
2. Comparison. - As a realtor, this can be almost impossible. We love to post our accomplishments, awards, and highlight reels of our lives. But the problem with social media is that you are only seeing the highlights of all the people you follow. You rarely see what someone’s actual day is like. This comparison led me to a dark place. Creating separation from it has given me back the freedom of loving the life I get to live.
3. Important 🔄 signifanct. - For those of you that don’t know, my faith is incredibly important to me. But before this fast, I was missing the fervor and love for Jesus I once had. Instead of going to Him for my comfort, I was going to my social media to scroll. I was trading the intimacy I had with my creator for an insignificant news video, golf tip, or funny video.
4. The results are not my own. - We cannot truly own the results. Some of you may want to argue with me on this one, but hear me out. This real estate market has shown me that regardless of how many hours you put in, people you talk to, and posts you make… you cannot make someone buy or sell a house. The only thing you can control is your effort, attitude, and mindset. If I fixate only on the results I will let myself down constantly.
5. Adoration. - I spent WAAAYYY too much time on the social media and I loved it. When I traded in my time on social media for INTENTIONAL time with the people I care about most deeply… my love for these people grew exponentially. I didn’t start this fast with an overwhelming desire for spending time with Jesus or realizing that I was missing out on things with those closest to me, but as I turned my attention toward the things that were important to me… my love grew even deeper and greater.
Would you do a 30 day social media fast?
