We were previously named “Chief Properties” which didn’t quite have the impact we wanted in our community as a brokerage name. We decided to make the change to Local Agent for a number of reasons. It was impossible to create a new name and logo that communicated who we are concisely. We chose Local Agent because it emphasizes a very important aspect of our vision for our communities. Being Local, shopping Local and caring for the Local community is imperative to our local economy, the success of small businesses in our neighborhoods and the financial health of our public services. We want to continue the hard work that other community organizers and small businesses have already started while highlighting that every service you choose has an impact on your neighborhood, friend & family member. We are passionate about the need for every Kansas City Metro resident to support local farmers, businesses &/or services that promotes the financial health of our local economy. Derek and his family spent seven years working in the beautiful country of Myanmar before moving to Kansas City in 2015. He is so thankful for all that life abroad taught him, and seeks to use those experiences and lessons to better listen to and serve his Kansas City area neighbors.

Prior to their time in Southeast Asia, Derek gained three years of construction and rehabbing experience at a missions organization in Florida, with some construction work abroad during that time as well.

Since 2015, he has enjoyed working in home improvement and remodeling throughout the Kansas City area. He has been running his own successful home improvement business since 2016. Derek truly understands houses from the inside out, and feels that serving others through real estate is a natural way to use this knowledge. He wants to help his clients find the right property that fits their needs, budget, and desires.
