Not to be daunted, I did find this steal on eBay, and there are still a bunch of these bo**ie babies available! As full featured as anything most of us could ever desire, with a warm water tank; heated seat; adjustable spray and more. There is even a feature to program settings for two AND a cool blue "night light!"

At our age and stage of life, a bidet is no longer a luxury, it's a necessity.

Pictures of the kitchen now. Soon they will be BEFORE pictures. That open corner between the dishwasher and refrigerator used to be the not-so-convenient doorway to the garage and basement.

There are at least three layers of vinyl flooring and underlayment that need to be torn out. The new cork flooring is sitting in the family room, acclimating.

The cabinets were custom built in the 1960s, and in this case that's not a compliment. They were "updated," probably in the late 1900s with formica laminated doors and drawer fronts, so painting them is not a good option.

I hate adding more non-biodegradable material to the landfill, but I admit it's going to feel very satisfying to see them in a dumpster soon.

This may well be my last big fling in renovation project and we've been putting it off for a long time. I'm trying to image a kitchen that we will actually be a joy to cook in.

We just made a huge commitment and ordered enough cork flooring to complete the first floor... everywhere!

We love how it looks and feels in the two bedrooms, and the floors in the rest of the house are dreadful, so we expect a huge transformation. We hope it will prove to be a good investment when we list the house for sale next spring.

Best of all, the price can't be beat for cork flooring, which seems to have followed a similar meteoric price increase as lumber has had the last couple of years.

Now all I need is the health and energy to install it, and I'm in an optimistic mood today.

It's a sort of magical night, with nitelites and fireflies.

It's been a great spring for these guys and it's nice to have them back in numbers tonight.
