After more than 15 years of service, Kelly Welch, CEO/President, is stepping down at the end of 2026. A search is currently underway for the next CEO/President who is committed and energized to pursue Sheffield Place's mission to empower homeless mothers and their children to heal from their trauma and become self-sufficient. Last Saturday was the annual Back to School Bash for the families at Sheffield Place. Each child picked out their own backpack and received the school supplies for their grade level! Huge thanks to the many businesses, individuals, civic and faith community organizations that donated the school supplies. The children are now ready to start school!

Thank you to The Kansas City Free Eye Clinic , for their partnership. The clinic served 20 mothers and children in July and a total of 60 clients since the beginning of the partnership last year. Clients receive a free, complete eye exam by a licensed doctor, a free pair of glasses, referrals to specialists if needed, and the client’s prescription. Isabella "Izzy" Schmidt, a senior in Human Development and Family Science at Kansas State University, recently completed her summer internship at Sheffield Place. Izzy focused her work in the children's program - Project Hope. Izzy plans to pursue a master's degree in counseling following her graduation from K-State next spring. The internship is made possible by the Catherin V. Merrill Foundation in partnership with Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas.

Academy Bank in Gladstone presented Sheffield Place with a $700 check yesterday to help provide back-to-school supplies for the children we serve. The Academy Bank team raised the funds through "Jeans Days" and the generous support of their customers.

Thank you, Academy Bank, for ensuring the children of Sheffield Place head back to school with the supplies they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Your generosity is making a meaningful difference!

Last night, the men's group from The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd treated the families to a delicious lasagna dinner and generously donated more than 100 toiletry items! We are so grateful for your kindness and support. Thank you!
