Shelter KC is a Kansas City Rescue Mission helping Kansas City’s homeless men and women experience freedom from the past and hope for the future.

We believe the love of Jesus Christ changes lives. We've seen it happen here every day since 1950. Founded in 1950, Kansas City Rescue Mission offers relief, recovery and reentry services to homeless individuals surviving on Kansas City’s streets. Each service we provide is developed to offer a step up from the misery of homelessness along with the knowledge that there is hope in each new day! Kan

sas City Rescue Mission offers its services at no charge (with very rare exceptions) to homeless individuals. Its services and programs are available to any individual, 18 or older, regardless of race, religion, gender, lifestyle or creed.

Big things are happening at Shelter KC!

We’re stepping into an exciting new chapter, and we can’t wait to bring you along!

A brand new building is taking shape, creating more space for men to find shelter, healing, community, and lasting transformation. And soon, Shelter KC will have a brand new website, making it easier than ever to learn about our mission, get involved, volunteer, give, and see the impact happening every day!

We’re celebrating this Monday morning! Two men at our Men’s Center are taking meaningful steps forward in their journeys of transformation!

Michael M. recently completed 20 hours of Life Skills in record time, demonstrating his commitment to growth and taking the next steps toward lasting change.

Mark is entering Discipleship 2, an exciting milestone as he continues growing in his faith, character, and recovery.

We’re proud of the work these men are putting in and grateful to celebrate each step forward. Congratulations, Michael and Mark! Keep moving forward!

For more than 12 years, Alisha has faithfully served at Shelter KC and now serves as our Donor Relations Specialist. She loves connecting the hearts of generous supporters with opportunities to meet our greatest needs, helping transform compassion into lasting impact.

This Monday, August 10th, volunteers are needed to help assemble new StepUP beds for the third floor of Shelter KC's new building, which will provide dorm-style living for men in our Christian Community of Recovery (C-COR) program!!

Whether you're handy with tools or simply willing to lend a hand, we'd LOVE to have you join us! Every volunteer makes a difference!

Before joining Shelter KC, Kennadi served as a Youth Pastor for four years, where God grew her passion for building relationships, encouraging others in their faith, and helping people experience the hope found in Christ-centered community. She believes every person has a God-given purpose and is excited to help churches discover meaningful ways to love and serve our community.

When she’s not at work, you’ll likely find her enjoying a local coffee shop with her husband, Cole, taking walks with their dog, Prezi, serving at her church, or spending time with family and friends.
