This week’s Downsizing Decision asks a deeply personal question: Would you stay where life feels familiar, or move closer to the people and places that matter most? 🏡

A familiar location can hold so much meaning: neighbors who have become friends, routines you know by heart, favorite local places and memories built over many years.

But distance can also become easier to notice: long drives to visit children or grandchildren, appointments farther from home and less time with the people or activities you want to be part of your everyday life.

For some homeowners, staying connected to a familiar neighborhood is worth remaining where they are. For others, moving closer offers something they value more now: connection, convenience and more time together.

The decision isn’t simply “stay or move.” It’s deciding which location will best support the life you want in your next chapter.

If you’re thinking about selling your home in the next 3 to 5 years, don’t wait until the For Sale sign is going in the yard to think about updates.

And you definitely don’t need to renovate everything at once.

There are 6 reasonable areas of your home you can begin evaluating now, making improvements gradually so you can enjoy them while you’re still living there and keep a future sale in mind.

The bigger question is: Which updates make sense for YOUR home, and where could you be spending money unnecessarily?

A referral brought us together while this wonderful couple was preparing for two very exciting new chapters: welcoming their baby boy and purchasing their first home. 🏡🤍

When they first interviewed me, she was still pregnant. By the time closing day arrived, their little boy was here and ready to join the celebration!

This home is more than a place for their growing family to make memories. It is also the first property in the real estate portfolio they hope to build for their future.
