Part-Time Maintenance Technician

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — We are looking for a reliable, skilled maintenance technician to perform essential upkeep tasks throughout our facility. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional. Being reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail is essential in this job, as the ideal candidate will have significant work experience and solid technical knowledge.
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (ie carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, etc.). Performs general cleaning and other tasks as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Paint, remodel, refurbish areas as needed (Make Readies)
• Repair, maintain/monitor all equipment and amenities
• Clean windows and glass doors
• Prepare conference rooms for scheduled meetings; remove or rearrange furniture for events or classes, as needed
• Remove and properly dispose of all recyclable materials
• Change light bulbs, interior, and exterior, as needed
• On-call maintenance for all facilities, 24/7
• Oversee service that provides trash removal and cleaning of offices
• Acts as the main point of contact for mowing and snow removal service companies
• Oversee daily trash removal, restocking/cleaning restrooms, sweeping/mopping/vacuuming, cleaning/disinfecting tables and counters, cleaning exterior entryway, cleaning/disinfecting community surfaces (handrails, water fountains, etc)
•Lawncare and Mowing
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned
• Must be able to work flexible hours
SALARY
Competitive with Apartment Industry $18.00 per hr to start HV/AC Experience $25.00 per hr
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school education or equivalent
• At least 5 years of working experience in facilities maintenance
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A strong desire to be a part of a dynamic team.
• Integrity to always do the right thing with a strong moral compass and the ability to speak up on important matters, no matter how difficult. Have a good sense of humor.
• Know what it means to roll up your sleeves and make things happen.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record as determined by the organization.
• Must have reliable transportation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to push/lift 75 pounds
• Ability to climb ladders
• Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as the job may require
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures
• Working in high noise levels requiring hearing protection
• Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints

• Normal office environment combined with normal outdoor exposures.
