My mentor, my friend, my stand in father. Who knew a phone call asking for information on a listing would result in Delfin Medina becoming my realtor. And in turn, Del being responsible for the place we call home today. A short sale is not by any means short. Del was with us every step of the way - all 10 months. He was the kindest soul anyone could ever meet. He had the tenacity of a bulldog and like I told him before he passed, he helped so many people become homeowners. He eventually convinced me to become a realtor after 5 or so years of hounding me. He never gave up on me as he saw something in me I didn’t. I couldn’t have had a better teacher, mentor and friend. He passed along his love of helping clients become homeowners and always made me realize that you do this business for them and not for the money. I miss him tremendously. I sometimes forget he’s gone and start to pick up my phone to run a thought by him and realize he's no longer here. I used to call him when I’m stumped and feel so lost without his guidance at times. But I hear him, in my thoughts, he guides me and my steps and I remember what he always said, your client is who you do this for, uppermost above anything and anyone. On the day he passed, I was driving past his house and I had a strong feeling to pull off the highway and make that turn to head up the hill - but I didn’t. I thought I had a little more time… I wanted to let him rest and didn't want to show up unannounced. Now I remember our last time together. I kissed his hand and hugged him and told him I love you Del. And as always he ended with his trademark “thank you, thank you”. I feel so grateful to have known him and so blessed to have had him in my life. If only we had met sooner so I could been in your awe longer. Until we meet again, Aloha, Del.
