A lot of people ask me why I moved from The Heights to Katy.

Honestly, I was pretty hesitant at first. I loved being in the city, being close to everything, and the lifestyle that came with it.

But my wife grew up in Katy, and after having three kids, our priorities started to shift. Between great schools, sports, activities, and having so much for our kids to be involved in, Katy has been an incredible place for our family.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love Houston’s urban neighborhoods. But for this season of life, Katy has given our family exactly what we were looking for.

Funny how sometimes the place you weren’t sure about ends up feeling the most like home.

Everyone keeps asking about mortgage rates.

As of this week, rates are sitting around 6.5% to 6.6%, which is higher than where we started the year but still lower than this time last year.

What’s interesting is that buyers haven’t disappeared.

Pending home sales are running ahead of last year’s pace, inventory growth has started to level off, and homes that are priced correctly are still moving. In other words, people aren’t waiting for the “perfect” rate anymore. They’re making decisions based on life changes, job moves, growing families, and long-term goals.

The market today feels much more balanced than it did a few years ago. Buyers have more options, sellers have more competition, and pricing strategy matters more than ever.
