Wonderful to have another thoroughfare. Yay!
**** 5:45pm UPDATE - THE THP IS FULLY OPEN TO TRAFFIC ****
SATURDAY 2PM UPDATE: My staff and engineering have been out on site all day to coordinate and to convey the entire community’s displeasure with the process. Inspections are finalized or finishing. On behalf of a lot of project managers and engineers, I apologize for the delay. It was entirely unacceptable and the contractors who failed to deliver on deadline to our project managers will have to answer directly for this on Monday.
TEXAS HERITAGE PARKWAY RIBBON CUTTING - This morning, it was a true honor to cut the ribbon and celebrate the opening of the new 6.4-mile Texas Heritage Parkway (THP). The full, four-lane roadway between I-10 and FM 1093 / Westpark Tollway runs just west of Cross Creek Ranch, Tamarron, Firethorne, and Young Ranch. This roadway will be fully opened late this afternoon to the public as crews work to remove the final barricades and coordinate with TxDOT.
This morning, we held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the south end of the Texas Heritage Parkway where I was joined by Fort Bend County Judge KP George, and numerous representatives from the property owners, engineers, construction firms, Fort Bend County, Waller County, the City of Fulshear, City of Katy, etc. As you can see from this picture, there were many dozens of people gathered together today; men and women who dedicated months and years to making this new road into a reality.
It's very rare to see so many people come together to successfully launch such a large mobility project, and the THP would not be opening today if not for the cooperation and partnerships that led to this day. I'm very pleased that this roadway will now serve thousands of our residents in North Fort Bend County as another north-south corridor for our growing community.
One note: please be aware that the portion of THP that is located in Waller County at I-10 at Pederson Road is still awaiting its final expansion. Fort Bend County has no control over its construction schedule as it will occur in the remainder of 2021. There will be delays at I-10 until that expansion is complete, and I'm told that Waller County will be working on that over the next 3-4 months. We are proud of the hard work put into the Fort Bend County portion of the expansion and as soon as the remainder of the expansion project is completed by Waller County - we will make the announcement on our page. Continue to monitor your favorite traffic app at peak traffic hours if you plan on driving all the way up to the Waller County portion of the roadway.
