White clover used to be in EVERY lawn seed mix in America.

It was considered essential for a healthy lawn.

Until herbicide companies decided it was a w**d.

→ Pre-1950s: clover was a STANDARD ingredient in lawn seed blends
→ Seed catalogs ADVERTISED clover as a sign of a quality lawn
→ Clover fixes nitrogen (free fertilizer!)
→ Clover stays green during drought (deeper roots)
→ Clover feeds bees (first and last nectar source in spring/fall)
→ Clover chokes out actual w**ds

What happened:
→ 1950s: 2,4-D (broadleaf herbicide) was introduced
→ Problem: 2,4-D kills clover (it's a broadleaf)
→ If clover is "good," you can't sell broadleaf herbicides to lawn owners
→ Solution: rebrand clover as a W**D
→ Marketing campaigns shifted perception within ONE generation
→ By 1970: clover was "the enemy" of a perfect lawn
→ Lawn care companies have made BILLIONS selling chemicals to kill something that helps lawns for free

The RETURN of clover:
→ "Clover lawns" are surging in popularity
→ Micro-clover varieties (smaller leaves, tidier appearance)
→ No fertilizer needed (clover fixes nitrogen from the AIR)
→ Stays green in drought
→ Feeds pollinators
→ Soft underfoot
→ Mixed clover-grass lawns: the best of both worlds

An entire generation was convinced that a FREE fertilizer and drought-resistant ground cover was a "w**d."

By a company selling the product that kills it.

Plant clover. Stop buying the lie. 🍀

It is easy to overlook what goes into everyday foods when they are convenient and familiar. Many processed options are made for taste and shelf life, not for nourishing your body. Becoming more aware of your choices can be a powerful turning point.

This is not about guilt, but about understanding. Whole, natural foods often provide the nutrients your body truly needs, while overly processed options can leave you feeling sluggish over time. Awareness allows you to choose what supports you best.

Start with small, realistic changes. You do not have to change everything at once. Each better choice you make builds a stronger, healthier foundation for your body and your future 🍌🌱
