Running some survey lines in Anderson Tx. Had a few nature encounters throughout the day. Maybe I should offer these “nature tours” as a package. I will take you out and show you the beauty of God’s wilderness... some line clearing may be required. Fear not, I will provide a machete that fits your hand perfectly.

D.M. Beard Services was back out there today going the extra mile. Busted out two original monuments in the middle of the road. I also found an old pipe that is important to the lot I am surveying.

Is your surveyor going to go the extra mile for you or are they going give up quickly and throw something together and hope it is right?

So I went back to a job today(on my day off), I had calculated the boundary and the new fence was encroaching into the property I was surveying about a foot and a half. I wanted some proof that the fence was off... I dont give up easily when looking for monuments. The pipe under the sidewalk is an important called for monument. Unfortunately, I will probably be the last surveyor to see it as it is quite a ways under the new sidewalk and when the rest of the sidewalk goes in...it will be hard to find. Good day for me. I got to play in the dirt and came away with some plunder!

Who else is going to dig through 2 feet of asphalt and shell for you to find those original monuments? That's right, a modern day viking! I give you today's plunder. Found 2 - 1" pinched top pipes out of 3 holes dug...one was just not there. But that didnt stop me from digging 3 feet deep looking.

D.M. Beard Services has enlisted the help of a couple of high-tech country girls to help us with our survey work. Meet "Gerdie Sue" and "Tallulah Skye"... Gerdie Sue is a Leica GS14 gps unit and Tallulah Skye is a Leica TS16 robotic total station. We have spent the last few days getting accustomed to working together. I think we will get along nicely.
