Montrose, we need to take a moment for Soundwaves.
Nearly 30 years at 3509 Montrose. A record, skate, and surf shop that drew DJs, local legends, and people who just needed to flip through vinyl for an hour and feel like themselves again. It's closing, and the 50% off everything sale right now is both a goodbye and a chance to take a little piece of it home. This neighborhood has always known how to grieve well — raise a pint at Rudyard's in its honor.
Speaking of Rudyard's: 2010 Waugh Drive, open since 1978, 46 years of pints and pool and darts and Gold Tooth Tony's Detroit-style pizza. The Riot Comedy Club upstairs. Pub Bingo on Mondays. Thursday Steak Night: 1 lb+ strip or ribeye, Caesar salad, Party Potatoes, and a pint for $32. This is the living room of Montrose, and it is exactly what it has always been, with no apologies to anyone.
Coming up Thursday May 15: New Orleans Night at Doc's Jazz Club, 1201 Westheimer — two sets (7 PM and 9:30 PM), $38.49 a ticket, timeless jazz classics with modern twists. Waugh Drive to Westheimer and back — that's a full evening in 77006.
Market: Montrose median is tracking around $762K, with 92 days on market and a genuinely balanced environment where buyers have time to think. If you're ready to talk real estate in the most interesting zip code in the city, I'm here: 832-657-3805.
MAD Love,
Melanie
