Before America declared independence, private property ownership was already a part of daily life in the colonies 🏡
Under English common law, colonists had the right to own, buy, sell, and inherit land. Property ownership helped families build wealth, establish communities, and create opportunities for future generations.
While 1776 marked a turning point in American history, the foundations of land ownership were already firmly in place. The ideals that emerged during Independence would later help strengthen and protect those rights in the new nation.
It's a reminder that the story of American homeownership began long before the founding of the United States and continues to evolve today.
