This question comes up often, and I am definitely team "buying".

There are several reasons why I feel this way, but the most important is my animals. I have cats, dogs, and horses. Horses are easy to board, albeit expensive, but trying to find rentals that accommodate cats and dogs can be tricky. Also, if your rental is going on the market and you have to move quickly, finding a new place in the area you desire can be quite stressful.
The next reason I am not fond of renting is simple. I don't want to pay someone else's mortgage. I would rather put money into my own home and be able to sell it for more than I paid for it if I needed the cash.
And the last reason is that I want to paint, garden, and decorate in a manner that suits my taste.
