If you have a lilac tree in your yard, this is a reminder that those beautiful blooms can be used for more than just bouquets!

I've wanted to make this simple syrup for a while now, but I kept forgetting to pick my lilacs.

You can use this syrup drizzled over vanilla ice cream, as a sweetener for your morning latte or afternoon iced tea. I'm going to try it with a Mint Mojito 😎

Lilac Simple Syrup

3-4 bunches lilac blooms
2 cups white sugar
2 tbls lemon juice
Jar or other airtight container for storage

Rinse lilac blooms
Remove petals from stems - keep as much greenery out as possible.

Just wrapped up three days of house hunting with my third set of relocation buyers. I had such a great time getting to know them and I'm so happy they will soon be calling Salem their new home!

These are 5 out of the 12 houses they saw because my cell phone died after the first day of showings 😵‍💫.

Thank you to my husband for coming in clutch and lending me his phone for the second day of showings.

And thank you to Amazon Prime for next day delivery so I could finish out the last day with a new phone.

Cellphone drama aside, it was a very fun and successful three days! We saw some gorgeous backyards, met a sweet kitty cat, and saw lots of beautiful homes. But best of all, my clients
found *the one*, so an offer was submitted and now we wait 🤞

Anyone else feel like seed catalogs are the adult version of the Christmas toy catalog??

If you're in the Willamette Valley (Zone 8b), now is the perfect time to start planning your summer garden. A little prep now makes a huge difference once planting starts.

Here's a few quick tips to get your garden ready.

☀️ Check your sunlight

Most summer veggies require 6-8 hrs of sun. Take note of where the sun hits your yard, and for how long, before planting anything

🌱 Prep and test your soil

Add compost or organic matter to garden beds now so nutrients have time to work into the soil. Now is also a great time to test your soil pH and nutrient level so you know exactly what your garden needs before planting

🌧 Plan for Oregon spring rain

Make sure your beds drain well by loosening compacted soil

🌱 Start seeds indoors

Leafy greens, brassica and heat lovers like tomatoes and peppers can all be started indoors so they're ready for transplanting into your garden after the last frost - usually around early to mid- April

✏️ Sketch your garden layout

Put tall plants like tomatoes and corn in areas where they won't shade everything else
