Love this
I spent days and years teaching Emery to seek God for everything, for He calls Himself “Wonderful Counselor” in Isaiah 9:6. I instructed her to pray and ask Him for advice, for wisdom, and for hope. We taught her to ask Him for help when she had fears at night, or worries during the day. She was present every single time our family prayed for God to take away the painful blood disease that her Mimi was experiencing.

My daughter took these teachings and applied them to her own life in a real way.

One morning as I was getting ready for the day, Emery walked into my bedroom and pointed to my face. I had an awful ugly Impetigo Blister plastered all over my bottom lip. Let me just tell you that the blisters that I used to get were not typical. They were massive and gross and would not leave for about 2 weeks.
…………………………………………………………………………………………
To my 4 year old, it was simple. You SEE a need, you PRAY, and you WITNESS the hand of God.

Emery pointed to my face and said, “Oh Mommy, you have an owee. Let me pray for your owee”. I leaned down in an effort to humor my child, but my heart had zero belief that the mountain scape on my bottom lip would be coming off any time soon.
Emery, with her eyes wide open, touched my mouth and said, “God, please take away Mommy’s owee. Amen”. She then giggled and ran off into our house in search of a new adventure.

As quickly as she left, my heart began to stop to ponder what had happened.
…………………………………………………………………………………………
The next morning, my face looked strikingly different. I could see that the Impetigo that always stays for 2 weeks upon appearance, was disappearing in less than 24 hours. My heart began to grab onto the HOPE of HEALING that my daughter had prayed for. The very next day, there was no sign of Impetigo on my face, as it had been completely healed.
…………………………………………………………………………………………
In four years, I have not had one case of an Impetigo Blister. Before Emery prayed for me, I would get them every 1-4 months.
…………………………………………………………………………………………
In the past, I believed that God was willing and able to answer my prayers. Why did I pray for people when they were sick if I did not believe that He answered prayers. But subconsciously, I liked the idea of answered prayers for other people rather than for me. I would dismiss His hand in the good things that happened in mine and others lives as coincidence, good luck, or the turns of life.
But why did I pray to God and ask Him to save the sick, keep us safe on a road trip, or provide financial blessing.. yet act surprised and dismiss it when God’s hand was moved? How many times do we ask Him for help, but when He provides it, we don’t acknowledge that it was Him providing it.
…………………………………………………………………………………………
When we silence our acknowledgement of what God has done, we are preventing our hearts from feeling thankfulness towards Him.
……………………………………………………………..............................
We are stumping ourselves and others in our lives from receiving the same types of blessings and miracles when we stay silent or dismiss His hand in the good in our lives. God promises throughout scripture to “do it again”.
As we allow ourselves to look upon God the way we did as a child, we are allowing His hand to move in our lives. And as we acknowledge Him in thankfulness and gratitude, sharing our stories with others of what He did, we are creating a Kingdom atmosphere for others. We are allowing His presence to enter into our family’s and friend’s lives through our stories.
…………………………………………………………………………………………
And this creates an atmosphere for Him to DO-IT-AGAIN.
