Did you know that seniors lose an estimated $3 billion a year to financial scams? 🤯 This is an unfortunate reality we have seen play out in real-time far too often, with phone calls being the most common contact method.
That’s why this National Senior Fraud Awareness Day, we want to offer a few reminders about phone call behaviors that should raise red flags. In general, be wary of calls that:
🚩 Pressure you to act now. (Real businesses won’t do that.)
🚩 Offer a prize but require upfront payment (Real prizes don’t require payment.)
🚩 Claim to be a government agency like the IRS, Social Security, or Medicare. (Real government agencies won’t call and threaten you.)
