Today, as the world celebrates Valentine’s Day, I find myself reflecting on a deeper meaning beyond heart-shaped chocolates and roses. While I don’t subscribe to the commercial hype of Valentine’s Day, I am a firm believer in its core message—a message that should resonate every day.
I believe in the power of treating others with the kindness, respect, and love we seek for ourselves. It’s not about a single day of grand gestures, but about the continuous, small acts of love we share. In a world rife with division and strife, the need for love is more pronounced than ever. We need to dismantle the walls of hate and separation that divide us, choosing instead to build bridges of understanding and compassion.
Let’s use this day not just to celebrate romantic love, but to recommit to a love that transcends all boundaries—a love that fosters unity and inclusiveness. It’s about recognizing our shared humanity and treating every person with dignity.
So, this Valentine’s Day, let’s spread a message of universal love and unity. Let’s cherish our loved ones, but let’s also extend our love to those we don’t know. Because in the end, the world needs more love, and it starts with us, here, now.
Let’s not limit love to a day. Let’s live it every day. SL
