Welden Village is a new walkable neighborhood being built on 385 acres in southern Kernersville. Located within 1/2 mile of Interstate 40 and a few miles north of Interstate 74, Welden Village is one of the closest residential neighborhoods in Kernersville to the health and wellness services on Medical Parkway and several new job centers in the Triad. Welden is made up of three primary neighborhoo

ds and several smaller pocket neighborhoods. Plans call for approximately 1,400 new homes and another 400 apartment homes. The 14-acre Neighborhood Shopping District and Village Center are adjacent to Old Salem Road and NC Highway 66. The site comprises a grocery store, several tracts for restaurants, and business services, providing many new retail options for the more than 23,000 employees working in Kernersville and those commuting between Greensboro and Winston-Salem. In addition, the plan has left generous room for many civic buildings, including multiple church sites and a location for a Wellness Center that can service the southeast portion of Forsyth County. The current plan features more than 40 parks, plazas, squares, and other open spaces with approximately 10 miles of walking trails, pathways, and sidewalks projected throughout the site.
