🚨 KISD to Host First Responders Night This Friday
Aug. 26, 2025 – After so many first responders answered the calls for assistance during the July 4 flood this summer, Kerrville Independent School District is proud to recognize those individuals and entities during First Responder Night at this Friday’s home football game against Del Rio at Antler Stadium.
Prior to kickoff, there will be two fly-overs – the first from the Texas National Guard’s Black Hawk Helicopters, followed by the Texas Department of Public Safety’s helicopter.
In addition, the Tivy High School and Del Rio High School football teams will wear custom jerseys donated by BSN Sports, recognizing First Responders on the back above the numbers, along with Kerrville Strong patches on the sleeves. Representatives from multiple emergency response units will serve as honorary captains for both teams during the on-field coin toss.
“We are deeply humbled and honored to dedicate this football game to our heroic first responders, who have selflessly supported our community on and since the tragic flooding on July 4,” said Superintendent Brent Ringo. “Their unwavering dedication and bravery inspire us all, and we are grateful for the opportunity to recognize their extraordinary service. Our students, shining under the Friday night lights, embody the resilience and strength of our community.”
In addition to the pregame flyovers, Kerrville Public School Foundation will recognize Shining Stars, KISD staff members who were nominated by KISD students, fellow staff and community members who exemplify excellence by their dedication and contributions toward shaping our students and building a better school district. KPSF will also be recognizing KISD Heroes, whose actions on July 4 and 5 helped evacuate hundreds of campers from flooded camps by driving district school buses into the destruction left behind to reach them.
Camp Mystic camper Skylar Derrington will perform her version of Hallelujah, followed by Tivy High School senior Amber Stone performing the National Anthem.
The Texas Military Department will also be on hand to distribute toys at the game.
Tickets to the game can be purchased in advance online at https://tivy.kerrvilleisd.net/activities/athletics/ticket-information.
Media passes to cover the game can be submitted to Lauren Jette, Public Relations Specialist at [email protected] by noon this Thursday, Aug. 28.
