WAGON DAYS is back ...

One of the weekends that is a reminder of the history and traditions that make this community so special. It can be action packed.

THE BIG HITCH PARADE — Saturday at 1 p.m. Come by the office at noon for some hot dogs and fixings.
291 N Main Street, Ketchum

Historic carriages, stagecoaches, carts and the iconic Lewis Ore Wagons pulled by 20 Shire horses down Main Street. It’s a Ketchum tradition I never take for granted.

And after the parade, head over to Town Square for the Wagon Days Street Party at 2:30 p.m.

Celebrate Labor Day weekend in Ketchum with unforgettable Western traditions! Friday, Sept. 4, features Cowboy Poetry and the Grand Marshal Reception, introducing the 2026 Wagon Days Grand Marshal. Saturday, Sept. 5, starts with the 5B Kids Fund Pancake Breakfast, followed by the legendary Big Hitch Parade and a Street Party with live music. A few special moments from the Sun Valley Music Festival last week. From the gala event with Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman (all I have to say is OMG) to Amos Yang performing at a friend’s house. She is a host and it is such a treat to meet the musicians and their families. It’s hard to beat my life here in Sun Valley. I am surrounded by what is most important.. from the outdoors, friends, work and the unexpected moments. I think we all must make time for those.

SO… summer in Sun Valley continues to be action-packed.

Ellie got to the river with her friends while her guardian was busy attending the Wood River Land Trust donor dinner. This organization has been doing incredible work in our valley for 30 years.

I also had the pleasure of seeing my dear friend Jill Donnelly give a fashion talk at Baby & Co.

And it’s worth noting the amazing women running for election here in Idaho:
• Ellie Gilbreath for Senator
• Lori Hickman for AG
• Terri Pickens for Governor

There was also a huge celebratory cake for the Sun Valley Museum of Art’s 55th anniversary. Founded in 1971 by Glenn Janss and a handful of other visionary women, SVMoA has been an important part of our community ever since.

I was also able to take in the Writers’ Conference. Yvon Chouinard was probably the highlight for me. I’ve followed him and Patagonia for so long, and I never tire of hearing about his life and perspective. I also loved hearing Atul Gawande speak about his work advancing global health through USAID, and finally Michael Pollan and Amor Towles, two more of my favorites.

What a week. ☀️
