Some of you may know me and some of you are here because let’s face it... you are curious about Real Estate. If I had to talk about myself, I’d rather not. Haha, but that defeats the purpose of an About Me Page, right? We’ll get to that later. What I really want you to know is why I am of value to you as a Real Estate Agent-

Now onto the boring “how I got here” stuff.
My journey to real estate started at age 19. I was renting a house with my then boyfriend, Gabe. For a couple of 19 year old semi-adults, we had life figured out. We were planning to be married on the first May 28th that landed on a Saturday. In 2012, that date was FOUR years away. Little did we know that LIFE had other plans. Later that year, around my birthday actually, I found out that I was pregnant with our first child. This is where our first steps to homeownership began. The next time I dropped off my rent check to my landlord I included a note. I told her that we were happily expecting our first child and we would need a place slightly bigger than we were in now preferably in Kettering, if she had it, and within this budget that Gabe and I had agreed upon. That letter resulted in a meeting with our landlord. She offered homes that she had available or would be available around the time our lease was up but they were slightly out of our price range and I wasn't one to budge on that. Eventually, she moved the conversation over to how grateful she was to have us as tenants, how gracious she was for us paying on-time and not only that but days before the first of the month. She wanted to keep us, despite her reluctance to rent to us in the beginning (we were teens who could blame her), so she offered to purchase another home for us to live in if we like it. We toured the home and decided that it was a good place to start and call home. She put in an offer and later that day called us to let us know she received notice from her realtor that unfortunately for her, the home was not up for investors until later in the month. She then had a conversation with me about our credit scores, rental history, and income. She told us that we could most definitely qualify for a mortgage and if at any time the lender asks for a letter she would be happy to give us a rave recommendation. That week we went into our bank and sat with a loan officer. Our loan officer told us all about the different financing options available and we settled on trying to get pre-approval on a conventional loan. Now, I was FOR SURE that we would be rejected because she told us that conventional was harder to get than FHA and many other factors but we came in with all documents requested and told her to “just go for it”. Within seconds she printed off a pre-qualification letter and an hour or so after that we walked out with a letter of conditional approval. Flabbergasted, we were on our way. I contacted a realtor who was referred to us and immediately we began looking for *OUR* first home. We were making the move; we closed on our first home in 2013. We were also married, got a dog, and had our first daughter all in that same year, LOL. And if I’m being honest my love for Real Estate began then, too.
Moral of the story: I wouldn't be where I am today had I continuously doubted that we would ever be able to get a mortgage. Getting that first approval and the knowledge of it opened up so many doors for me. I wanted to learn everything about it. I can’t even explain how my heart felt when I sold my first home, that was another can of worms, and the start of a career built on passion.
