💙 September at Hermanos 💙
This month, 191 people left the streets and moved into safe housing.
Behind every number is a person, a family, a new beginning.
🏠 346 people served this month
✅ 191 positive housing outcomes
❤️ 7,731 people supported since 2021
🎯 7,052 success stories
We welcomed new babies, housed veterans, supported families, and helped dozens of people start over, whether here in the U.S. or back home with loved ones.
None of this happens alone.
If you’d like to be part of the solution, you can help. We’re always looking for supporters, volunteers, employers, landlords, and advocates who believe everyone deserves a place to call home.
📩 Send us a message or visit our bio to get involved.
Together, we keep proving that homelessness is not hopeless. 💙

More and more families are finding their way home through Hermanos de la Calle and the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund.

Meet Lonnae and Erick, a young couple raising two beautiful children with autism. When we first met them, the family had driven from Georgia to Miami and was living out of their car, trying to navigate homelessness while meeting the unique and often unpredictable needs of their children.

For Lonnae and Erick, finding employment was not simply a matter of finding a job. Their children required consistent care and supervision, which meant that any path toward financial stability had to allow one parent to always be available for them.

Their time with Hermanos de la Calle gave the family something they had been missing: stability. With a safe place to stay and continued support, Lonnae and Erick were able to reorganize their lives around both their children’s needs and their family’s future. They each secured full-time employment and coordinated their schedules so that while one parent worked, the other could be there for the children.

With two incomes and a stronger support system, the family was able to move beyond relying primarily on their children’s benefits to make ends meet and begin building financial independence of their own.

Today, Lonnae, Erick, and their children are no longer living out of their car. They are living together in a home of their own—working, growing, and building a more stable future as a family.

Sometimes, the difference between surviving and moving forward is simply having the stability and support to get started.
Let keep making it happen❤️✨

Nancy and her daughter, Alejandra, drove more than 40 hours from Oakland, California, to Miami in search of safety and a fresh start.

While they navigated the complicated process of transferring Nancy’s California Section 8 voucher, they were sleeping in their car in the summer heat. When they connected with Hermanos de la Calle, we provided a safe place to stay and helped them through the challenges of the transfer process.

After weeks of persistence and coordination, Nancy and Alejandra moved into their new apartment last week.

Now, they can begin looking ahead: Nancy, a talented singer, and Alejandra, a student who dreams of becoming an orthodontist.

Their journey began with a drive toward safety. Today, they have a place to call home.

⭐ August at Hermanos de la Calle ❤️
August was a huge month. We served 356 people experiencing homelessness, and 174 made it forward. Over the last 12 months, we walked with 2,932 people, with 2,036 success stories. Since May 2021, we’ve already touched 7,561 lives, and 6,884 are now off the streets. Every number is a story, a family, a hope.
Affordability is one key factor for being homeless in Miami: We live in the second most expensive city in the country, even above NYC and LA. It takes $47,784 for one adult to cover the basics and $114,480 for a family of four. For many, it’s very difficult… and that’s why we’re here!
This month, we celebrated 14 baptisms at Corpus Christi, welcomed new births at the maternity home, and worked at the Government Center helping brothers and sisters sleeping in the park. We also won a new Homeless Trust grant for Homeless Prevention: now we walk the whole path, from people about to lose their home to those who make it into a place of their own. With dignity. With respect. Because every person counts.
We also said goodbye with heavy hearts to two friends from the street: Félix Vega and Iris Berlín. May God receive them in His glory.

Let’s review our programs!

🌿 Maternity
Kaleb and Daneysi were born. Today, we have 13 moms, 7 who are pregnant, and more babies on the way in September and October. Casa Santa María is running beautifully, with 4 moms living there.
🇺🇸 Veterans
63 active veterans and 50 new referrals this month.
🏠 Housing
30 homes + the convent. More than 200 people under a roof. If you want to visit, that’s a huge help: so many need to talk, to be heard, to stop being invisible.
🏨 Hotels + Families
82 people were in the program this month, mostly families. With school back, activities are already being planned to bring some joy to the kids. If you have an idea, write to us.

🙌 We’re still growing

🚀✨ Meet the great Vere Jones!
For many years, Vere lived on the streets. But one day, one of our volunteers looked him in the eyes and said: “Let’s give you a chance.”
Vere took it. He showed up, he worked hard, and today he lives in his own place, pays his own rent, and is building a new life with dignity.
This is what the Love Revolution looks like — one person, one chance, one victory at a time. 💛
¡Vamos que se puede! 🙌
