City Council faces hefty agenda on Tuesday, Oct. 13

The Marathon City Council will meet Tuesday, Oct. 13, with a variety of items on the agenda and several up for discussion, including a city audit and the city’s finance contract, the city attorney position, pickleball court hours, and a fee schedule for Community Park use.

Two resolutions, 2026-84 and 2026-85, will come back to council after being tabled during September’s City Council meeting.

The resolutions would allow the city to accept the transfer of 50 early evacuation workforce affordable housing residential allocations from Key Colony Beach and Layton, respectively.

Additionally, Resolution 2026-102 would ratify the collective bargaining agreement between the city, the Professional Firefighters of Marathon, and International Association of Firefighters Local 4396.

The meeting will be held in Council Chambers, Marathon City Hall, 9805 Overseas Highway, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Tomorrow is the Feeding the Keys food drive organized by United Way of Collier and the Keys. This countywide collection benefits all food pantries. Pictured here are Rob Christensen and Zak White from Keys Electric Company. They brought lots of food and cash donations early to keep our food pantry open. Thank you to the kind people of FKEC! Also, we received a great donation of food from St Columba Episcopal Church (no picture - they were shy!) Not too late to participate in the food drive. Come to KAIR at 3010 Overseas Hwy., Marathon on Friday, the 9th from 2pm-6pm. All donations are very appreciated!

Fantastic event from Florida Realtors® as always, the CEO Symposium was informative, fun and inspiring. We had a great keynote from Jia Jiang and I can’t wait to read his book, Easy Discipline. Thanks to Jorge Guerra Jr. for gifting each of the attendees a copy! I am excited for 2027 and looking forward to continuing the great working relationship our CEO and I have.
