Stay Safe, Maui: 6 Tips for the Kona Storm 🌧️🏝️
With the ongoing weather alerts and flash flood warnings across the island, staying prepared is our best defense. The ground is already saturated from recent rains, so even a little more can have a big impact. Let’s look out for one another and keep our homes and families safe.
Here are 6 ways to stay prepared today:
Stay Informed: Keep an eye on official local news and weather reports for real-time alerts.
Secure Your Property: High winds can turn outdoor furniture or plants into hazards. Bring them inside or tie them down.
Backup Water: Fill clean containers with water for drinking and sanitation as a precaution.
Prepare a "Go-Bag": Have your medications, important documents, and a 14-day supply of essentials ready in case you need to move to higher ground.
Stay Off the Roads: Avoid all non-essential travel. Remember: "Turn around, don't drown." Never attempt to cross pooling or moving water.
Check on Neighbors: Take a moment to text or call your kūpuna and friends. A small check-in goes a long way in our community!
Stay safe, stay dry, and take care of one another. We are in this together! 🌈🤙
