Learn More About Me Below:
My kids and my dog are my priority, my real estate license is my security, and DIY and construction projects are my creativity. I grew up in Wiscons
in (Go Pack, Go!) and through life, I developed passions for traveling, writing, parenting, and of course working on anything I can "fix up". I suffer from a chronic case of wanderlust... my daughter and I have stepped foot on every continent other than Antarctica and we will make it there soon. Now that my daughter is older, my son, dog, and I will continue traveling. I have been selling and rehabbing properties since 1997 but Saltwater Close began when I moved to the Outer Banks, North Carolina about seven years ago. The scent of saltwater from the wind is physically and mentally relaxing. Nature lured me to the area and allowed me to reassess my personal and work life. Considering how long I have lived here and my sense of wanderlust, this place is clearly special to me and has allowed me to live a much more laid back lifestyle. I have worked on homes built in the early 1900's, inner city condo conversions, and concrete constructed buildings situated in various parts of the U.S. I know my way around old woodwork, cisterns, water pumps, and I can change old sash cords in my sleep. I spend most of my time "outside the box" and my least favorite phrase is "that's not the way we usually do it". I prefer to run around in grungy clothes, flip flops, and a ponytail but I also love dressing to impress and wheel and deal in the real estate contractual world. Being creative and spontaneous while also always having a backup plan has allowed my family to travel and work on fun projects. Extensive travel to far-flung places has influenced both my design perspectives and how I prioritize "needs" when it comes to starting a new project. I have a degree in journalism and love to write inspiring, insightful, and humorous blogs. In general, my blogs and social media feeds include DIY projects for moms, inspiration and pointers for women in construction, my experience raising kids in the Outer Banks, and general advice for women in business. My business, Saltwater Close, specializes in remodeling, design services, and investment advice to folks who'd like to live or own property in the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina. I use local vendors and do what we can to support the small businesses in our area. I try to repurpose, reuse, and salvage cool things to use in our designs while being as professional as possible. Some of the things I'm pretty good at are:
- Helping you buy or sell a house in the Outer Banks
- Remodeling or updating your property ~ one small thing, or the whole house!
- Design consultation (available at an hourly rate)
- Staging your property ~ which can equal a faster sale at a higher price
Think you might need my help? Call me - I'll be happy to answer your questions... and if I can't help, I'll do my best to point you in the right direction. Follow me on social media or read my blogs. I might inspire you to do your own work or I might inspire you to work with me. Nonetheless, I certainly hope to inspire you to travel more, appreciate the little things, and to try a project or lifestyle that's new to you.
