Yesterday was employee appreciation day, so we took the day off and went on an epic mountain bike ride, exploring several Truckee trails. Nothing clears the mind like a few hours on single track.

I'd also like to recognize Rusty being such an incredible employee. He's always on time, thorough in his work, dedicated to constantly learning, and patient with clients. If you look through our online reviews, you will see many mentions of Rusty along with a 5-star review.

Give him a shout out if you appreciate this guy too!

Honest Questions: What level of quality do you expect from new construction? Would you consider this to be just a cosmetic issue for a high-end build? How important is it to you (as an agent) that your clients understand the level of construction they are buying?

Our philosophy is generally that new construction should be built to code, but also up to the local construction standards. It should be in perfect working order so the buyers aren't let down by even small imperfections.

Rusty and I have an ongoing debate on what to include in inspections, especially with new construction. And, as always, we are always open to hear your opinion on our level of documentation.

(If you didn't catch what I am showing in the video, it's the unevenly formed concrete walls)

When your water heater is 52 years old, it might be time to upgrade. Its had a good life. Keeping your warm after all those ski days and hikes. But your don't want to be scrambling when it goes out with your family in town, or when you need that hot shower after a long weekend. We always recommend you call a licensed plumbing contractor so it's done right and to code.

Rusty found this Bald-faced hornet's nest ( am I right?). They're not so friendly and we'd rather not share the attic with these guys. Rusty tamed the hornets with some lullabies and got the attic inspection done.

Last weekend, Amie and I were woken up at 2 am to hear a bear pounding on our neighbor's window, breaking it, and climbing into the house. Of course, I went outside to check things out and jumped back when the bear climbed back out in front of me. Do we need to start putting bars on our windows or what?
