Prequalification and preapproval sound similar, but they aren’t quite the same. A prequalification is an early estimate based on the information you provide. A preapproval usually involves a lender reviewing your finances more closely. When you’re serious about shopping, a preapproval helps you understand your price range and can make your offer stronger.
